Severn Planner: the free school planner that schedules your study time

Less planning. More progress. Planner pulls in your assignments and grades, looks at the time you actually have, and schedules the studying for you.

Free for students. Works with Canvas, Schoology, Google Classroom and more.

Works with

Canvas, Google Classroom, Schoology, Blackbaud, Brightspace, Moodle, Blackboard, ManageBac, Toddle, Veracross, Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook.

Assignments aren't the hard part. Knowing when to do them is.

You already have the list. What's missing is a plan for when. Planner reads your assignments, your commitments, and your free time, and puts the work on specific days.

It plans around the rest of your life

Tell Planner when you have practice, work or clubs, and add goals of your own. Plan My Week finds time for your goals first, spreads them across the week, and fits school work around them.

  1. Commitments. Practice, work, clubs and sleep are blocked off, so study sessions only go into time that's actually free.
  2. Personal goals. Running 3 times a week, reading 20 minutes a day, college essays 2 hours a week. Plan My Week books these first.
  3. Goal blocks. Drag a goal to another time in the Schedule and it stays there when you replan.
  4. Not this week. Sick, away or swamped? Skip a goal for the week and its streak carries on.
  5. Weekly review. Each week you see how every goal went, like "Run, 2 of 3". Hit a goal two weeks running and it gets a streak.

Connect your school once. Then forget about it.

A small browser extension brings your assignments and grades into Planner and keeps them current. You never give Planner your school password.

The extension is Severn Planner Overlay on the Chrome Web Store. Chrome extensions only install on a computer.

What is Planner?

A school planner that pulls in your assignments and grades and schedules study sessions for you, so you know what to work on and when.

How does automatic study planning work?

Tap Plan My Week. Planner checks what you have due, how long each item should take, and where you have free time around your commitments and connected calendars. It books study sessions into those gaps and splits bigger work over several days. You can drag any session or set its exact time.

Does Planner work with Canvas?

Yes. Enter your school's Canvas address, install the companion extension, and your assignments and grades sync in. No Chrome, or on an iPhone or iPad? Connect Canvas with an access token instead. It works in any browser.

Does Planner work with Blackbaud?

Yes. Install the Planner Overlay extension and open Blackbaud. Your assignments and grades sync in. Planner is not affiliated with Blackbaud.

Does Planner work with Schoology?

Yes. Enter your school's Schoology address, install the companion extension, and your assignments and grades sync in.

Does Planner work with Google Classroom?

Yes. Install the extension, pick Google Classroom in Planner, and click Allow. Then open Classroom and your assignments and grades come in. Planner only reads them and never changes anything.

Do I have to enter all my assignments manually?

No. Canvas, Blackbaud, Schoology, and Google Classroom assignments sync in, and Brightspace, Moodle, Blackboard, ManageBac, Toddle, and Veracross assignments come in with a calendar link. Anything else, like a practice or a personal deadline, takes a few seconds with Quick Add.

Does Planner know my grades?

Yes, once your school is connected. Your current grades sync in and the Grade Predictor shows how upcoming work could change them.

How does Planner protect my data?

Once you set a passphrase, your planner is encrypted on your device with AES-256 before it is saved, so the server only stores scrambled text. Planner asks you to set one after your first school sync. Storage runs on Google Firebase under an account only you can sign in to, and we never see your school password. Read the privacy policy for the full details.

Does Planner help me study for exams?

Yes. Turn on Exam mode in Settings → Appearance and an Exams page appears. Add an exam with the class and date, or pick a test already in Planner, and preview the study plan before anything is booked. Missed sessions can be rescheduled from today.

Can Planner plan things outside school?

Yes. Add personal goals, like running 3 times a week, reading 20 minutes a day, or college essays 2 hours a week. Plan My Week finds time for them first and fits school work around them. Drag a goal block in the Schedule and it stays there when you replan, the weekly review shows how each goal went, and Not this week skips a goal without breaking its streak.

Does Planner work on my phone?

Yes. Open app.severnplanner.com in your phone's browser. On an iPhone or iPad, add it to your Home Screen and it opens full screen like an app, with its own icon. There's no App Store app to download.

Does Planner use AI?

No. Planner doesn't use AI to plan. Your plan comes from your due dates, how long that kind of work has taken you and the free time you set, by the same rules every time.

Does the extension work in Safari or Firefox?

No, the Planner extension is for Chrome. Planner itself works in any browser, and without the extension you can connect Canvas with an access token, or Schoology, Brightspace, Moodle and others with a calendar link.

Is Planner free?

Yes. Planner is free for students.
